Everyone should be able to read this site.
What is in place
Every image is described
Each photograph carries a description written by a person looking at it — not a filename, and not left blank. Where a description has not been written yet, the image is not placed on a public page at all.
The keyboard reaches everything
Every link, button, form field and the photo gallery can be operated without a mouse, with a visible focus outline. The gallery returns focus to the photograph you were looking at when you close it.
Motion can be turned off
If your device is set to reduce motion, the scroll animations, transitions and the rotating hero all stop. That setting is respected everywhere, not just in places.
It works small, and zoomed
The layout holds from 320px upwards and at 200% zoom without content being cut off or the page sliding sideways.
Colour is never the only signal
Status, errors and required fields are marked with words or icons as well as colour, so they still read in greyscale or with colour-blindness.
Forms say what went wrong
Validation messages name the field and what to change, are linked to the field for screen readers, and are announced rather than only appearing.

The site is only in English
Much of the community this charity works with speaks Swahili first. A Swahili version is planned. Machine-translating the safeguarding and donation pages would be worse than the current gap, so it waits for a person.
PayPal's checkout is not ours
The donation flow hands over to PayPal, whose accessibility we do not control and cannot fix. If it blocks you, please contact us and we will take the donation another way.
No formal audit yet
This site has been tested by keyboard and against automated checks, but it has not been audited by an accessibility specialist or tested with a screen reader by someone who uses one daily. Until it has, we do not claim a WCAG conformance level — a badge we have not earned would be the opposite of useful.

If something on this site stops you doing what you came to do, please write to info@zaratanzaniacharity.org and say what you were trying to do and what happened. You do not need to know the technical reason.
We aim to reply within ten working days, the same commitment as every other message sent through this site.
If you cannot use the donation form for any reason, contact us and we will take the donation another way. Nobody should be unable to give because of a page we built.
