Roof-mounted solar panels on a rural school building, the array that powers its classrooms and evening study sessions.

A rural school's array — the Solar Energy Project.

Privacy

What this site collects, and what it does not.

Short, because the honest answer is short. No cookies on the public pages, no advertising trackers, and nothing here is sold or swapped.

No cookies

This site does not set a cookie on the public pages. That is why there is no cookie banner asking you to accept one. Signing in to the staff area sets one session cookie, which is not you.

No analytics

No Google Analytics, no pixels, no session recording. We do not know who you are or which pages you read.

One third-party script

PayPal's checkout loads on the donate page, and only there — it is what takes the payment, and card details go to PayPal rather than to us. No other page loads anything from anyone else.

What you give us, when you choose to

The only information we hold is what you type into a form and send. There are four of them.

Donation form

Name, email, country, phone (optional), amount, and the programme you chose.

To take the gift, send your receipt, and tell you what your money joined.

Contact form

Name, email, subject and your message.

To reply to you. Nothing else.

Volunteer application

Name, email, the programme you are interested in, your availability, and the skills you describe.

To assess the application and reply — including when we cannot place you.

Field notes email list

Your email address.

To send one update a month. One click unsubscribes, and there are no appeals between them.

Who else sees it

PayPal. Donations are processed by PayPal Business. Your card details are entered on PayPal’s own systems and never reach this site or our servers. PayPal handles that data under its own privacy terms.

Our sister travel businesses. Tanzania Wildlife Adventures and Tanzania Wild Camps share a supporter record with the charity, so a traveller who gave at checkout is recognised rather than asked twice.

Nobody else. We do not sell, rent or swap supporter data, and we do not share it with other charities.

Your choices

Ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, by emailing info@zaratanzaniacharity.org. You do not need to give a reason.

Every email we send carries a one-click unsubscribe. Unsubscribing from updates does not cancel a monthly gift, and cancelling a gift does not unsubscribe you — the two are separate on purpose.

A monthly gift can be changed or stopped by you at any time, without contacting us.

What this page still needs

The description above is accurate about how the site behaves. Three things require confirmation from the charity before this counts as a complete privacy notice, and they are listed rather than invented:

  • The registered data controller and its contact for data requests.
  • How long supporter records are kept, and what triggers deletion.
  • The named CRM or mailing provider that processes the email list.
  • Confirmation of the supervisory authority a complaint can be taken to.

Questions in the meantime go to info@zaratanzaniacharity.org. Concerns about conduct rather than data belong on the safeguarding page.
